Mechanics for KPOP Dance
KPOP DANCE COVER BATTLE Rules and Regulations
(Day2 ,September 18,2022)
- Minimum of 4 and no maximum of participants. But it is highly encouraged if the number of the group that the team will be covering will be reached. (+5 for the overall scoring if the number of the group to be covered is reached e.g. BTS:7 or Twice:9).
- Open to all Kpop dance cover groups in the Philippines.
- Contestants under eighteen (18) years of age as of event date must have a letter of consent and waiver together with their information sheet.(Kindly print in a short bond paper and present upon paying.)
- Members can be all female or male and can also be a combination of both. Reverse gender cover is also allowed. (Ex. All girl group to cover an EXO song and vice versa.)
- A member could only be a part of one cover group.
- Groups can choose any song(s) from any KPOP group considering they would only dance to one Kpop group only.
- Groups can edit their performance song but their performance should only last for 3-6 minutes with a limit to 1-3 songs per mixed track only. Participants/Group can cover same the Kpop Idol Group but NO DUPLICATION OF SONGS. First payment registration, first song reservation. (Example: 3 cover groups to cover BTS, but the song Fake Love can only be used by only one group from the three, others should choose other BTS songs.)
- Choreographies should be limited to original dance steps only and stunts are highly discouraged for the safety of the participants and the audience. (Please provide videos of the dance(s) to be covered to be sent with the mixed cover track and song list – Dance Practices if available 2 weeks before the event date.)
- Special effects are not allowed, such as smoke, fire and the like. SMX will provide guidelines before the event.
- You can provide your own Visual Effects (Stage will have an LED screen as a backdrop).
- Any untoward incident during the competition will not be the responsibility of the organizers and the venue considering all the precautions have been considered.
JUDGING PENALTIES
In addition to the judging scores, penalties will be imposed on the following rule infractions:
- Exceeding Time Limit: deductions will be under the judge’s discretion ,10% will be the lowest.
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct: For actions that are demeaning to the other teams or that incite conflict in the competition that may spark any fight may result to disqualification.
- Incomplete Requirements: If any of the materials required are incomplete the organizers assigned have the authority to disqualify the contestant.
Judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

EXECUTION/CHOREOGRAPHY/BLOCKINGS: 50%
PORTRAYAL/PROJECTION/STAGE IMPACT: 20%
COSTUME (closeness to the idol group covered) : 20%
AUDIENCE IMPACT: 10%

KPOP COSPLAY (K-COSPLAY) Rules and Regulations
(Day 1, September 17, 2022)
- Open to anyone in the Philippines, as long as an event attendee.
- This contest is open to everyone, male or female. 12 years old and above, Solo and Duo Category only. (For participants 17 and below please secure a parental waiver upon registration. Kindly print in a short bond paper and present it upon paying.)
- Kpop artists, K-drama, and K-movie characters are allowed.
- Prepare a photo of the artist/character that you will be portraying (in the same costumes/outfits that you’ll be wearing) and send the photo upon registration. Make sure the photo is clear enough and not pixelated. No need to send your photo wearing the said costume.
- Costumes must not be too revealing, and extreme forms of fan service deemed inappropriate for minors are prohibited.
- Each contestant will be given a maximum of four (4) minutes for the portrayal of character and introduction (dance, sing, act, etc.)
- Contestants can send their own background music considering it will be edited to fit the 4-minute allotted time (portrayal + introduction), otherwise generic music will be used.
- Contestants must also be willing to go at an earlier call time before the program proper, for briefing, and runway blockings. If needed.
- The Events team has the right to disqualify any contestant(s) who will violate any of the said guidelines.
JUDGING PENALTIES
